Açaí nuts
grow on the Açaí palm, which is native to
the Amazon Region. They are gathered by local tribespeople
from the tops of these palm-trees and shipped by boat to
Belém do Pará in Northern Brazil.
Here
they are offloaded and taken to the processing plant, where
they run through a selection process, after which their
pulp is stripped off by a machine. The next step is to turn
them into powder.
